While I used to do full bathroom renovations including plastering and tiling, my work specifically for bathrooms now focuses on cabinetry, doors, shelving, mirrors and wall paneling.
I can make you something to your design that is custom made and exactly what you want. Comparatively, custom made is often more cost effective than something bought off the shelf.
Some tips for bathrooms:
Safety first.
•Get your plumbing and electrical installed by licensed professionals.
•There are very specific safety regulations for bathroom lighting, heating, lighting switches and power sockets.
• Check these regulations especially before buying lights and heating. Be aware that everything has to pass the Australian safety code. I’ve seen homeowners get caught out by buying cheap imports online that aren’t compatible (e.g. lighting) and your home insurance policy may not cover a claim if you try and alter the item you bought overseas.
Shower bases:
Plumbers install shower bases, it is part of their job. Keep in mind, most manufacturers won’t honour the warranty if the shower base/screen isn’t installed by a licensed plumber.
I love my work and an important part of it is building trusting, respectful relationships with clients, a strong foundation for working together.
My work ranges from the smallest carpentry projects right through to full home renovations.
I am really happy to work with client designs together with my 30+ years of carpentry knowledge and experience.
Sometimes it is about looking at the quality materials you already have and replacing what is necessary instead of throwing everything in landfill and starting again. It is about assessing each project individually, and weighing up the pros and cons. Consider inconvenience, aesthetics and cost. For example, at the beginning of this year returning clients got in touch to ask if I could salvage there forty year bathroom vanity. The cabinet carcass made of chip board had seen better days. But, the bench top, sides, doors, drawers and drawer fronts all made of Celery Top were in great condition. That is the thing about using quality timber, it lasts.
