November 13, 2025
Hello,
I’m starting a monthly newsletter, easy to read and not too long.
You’ll find it here in the Blog Post section.
From month to month the topics will vary.
Let’s get started.
November.
It’s been such a wild, windy start to Spring. With days of rain and some expected and unexpected hail the deliveries and install days have been scheduled around the weather. Always grateful working with clients who appreciate the logistics of working with the Tassie weather.
I’ve included some photos (above) of a little project I worked on at the start of Spring – installing a Huon Pine shelf and Lime Washing a small section of wall above some Tasmanian Oak Dado Panelling (I installed previously) in the Garden Studio at Fairy Wren Cottage. The Lime Wash is from an Australian company and was easy to apply. It was good to do a small area as a test trial and to get an appreciation of working with the Lime Wash and also seeing how the end result looks in the changing light.
The sweet peas in the photos (above) are the first for the season. My wife Jude did a trial growing them in the Hot House over Winter. The sweet peas started to flower at the same time as getting powdery mildew so we won’t be growing them this way again. Jude is growing 32 different sweet pea varieties this year and after work of a night I’ve installed some new climbing frames just in time for all the sweet pea seedlings to be planted out.
I’ve got the work diary well planned for the lead up to Christmas. I don’t over book and find working steadily away is the trick to not getting stressed out as the 25th December will come around soon enough.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my first Monthly Newsletter. Thanks for reading, being here and valuing craftsmanship.
Until next time,
Michael
