An example of a free standing hen/duck house that I have made in the past.

Some details about this hen/duck house:

This size would suit two larger birds or three smaller birds to sleep in at night and be let out early to free range all day.

This hen/duck house would fit  on a trailer for easy transportation and take two strong people to lift it into place.

The house sits on legs approximately 60cm off the ground therefor it also provides some shade/shelter along with other trees and shrubs in the free ranging orchard/yard.

On the left hand side wall there are double doors to easily clean the house. There is  a small gap above the double doors for air ventilation.

On the right hand side wall there is the nesting boxes and opening lid for easy egg collecting.

The back wall is solid to protect from drafts and rain (the weather comes from this direction).

The roof and walls are made from hardwood weather boards.

The ramp is made out of hardwood.

There is a small front door that closes at night to keep your birds safe from predators.
