Hello,
Sustainably sourced Tasmanian Oak is a beautiful timber, it is durable, practical, hard wearing, and cost effective.
Clients often start a project saying that they are going to paint everything then they see their finished project made with Tasmanian Oak and decide to varnish it instead because they didn’t realise how good the Tasmanian Oak would look. If I had a dollar for every time this happens….
Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to have that kind of flexibility in a project, and Tasmanian Oak does give that flexibility if you aren’t sure whether to paint or varnish.
Tasmanian Oak is a versatile timber. It can be used for kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, shelving, vanities, dado/wall panelling, gates, fencing, internal and external doors, screen doors, window frames, tables, furniture and floorboards.
Did you know that timber is graded? From the best to the least quality. I only use the higher grade quality timber and shop around for the best prices to keep your project as cost effective as possible.
Do you know the difference between timber and timber veneer?
With the way some manufacturers are labelling products now a days it can be very confusing. I saw a renovation show using a veneer product with a laminate top coating that was made to look like Tasmanian Oak describe the boards as “solid Tasmanian Oak” – they definitely weren’t. The renovation host used words like “solid boards” and “rock solid” to give the impression that the boards were actually solid timber even though they weren’t.
Veneer products have the appearance of solid timber but it isn’t solid timber. It is thin pieces of product such as mdf/chip board glued together with a top layer that is made to look like natural timber.
I use sustainably sourced solid Tasmanian Oak timber that is actually timber, a natural product, the real thing.
There is a reason why you can walk around an old house that still has solid timber floorboards, skirting, architraves, window frames and doors, it is because they are made properly from long lasting timber and made to last.
I’ve been living and working in the Huon Valley for over 15 years now.
