I can make you a custom made Kitchen Dresser to fit the exact measurements for your kitchen.
Your design.
Your specifications. For example shelving spaced to fit your glassware or dinnerware and display your crockery.
Cost effective.
Craftsmanship.
Made using sustainable timber, not mdf or veneer panelling.
Choice of bench top. Eg. Tasmanian Oak. Red Ironbark. Myrtle. Blackwood.
With or without doors.
With or without glazing in the doors.
Different door styles to choose from. For example. Shaker style.
Part of a cohesive kitchen design is having well proportioned cabinetry that fits a space properly and does not stick out into the entrance way or sits over a door frame or window frame.
Custom made Kitchen Dressers vs an Antique Kitchen Dresser.
Provenance: A custom made dresser is specifically made for you.
Do you know the exact provenance of an Antique Kitchen Dresser?
If you are thinking about getting an Antique Kitchen Dresser make sure to check these things:
I love vintage and antique dressers, and most are beautifully kept and in excellent condition.
Do give a Kitchen Dresser the complete check over before buying as some smell mouldy/damp when opening the cupboards and drawers. Do you want your kitchenware/food stored in a mouldy/damp dresser?
Check the drawers and shelves for stains. For example paint stains, ink stains, blood stains (especially in the old meat safes).
Before an item comes into Australia customs chemically fumigates it. Do you want something that is chemically fumigated storing your kitchenware and food.
Old dressers are often shifted out to the garage or workshop area and used for storing paint and other household chemicals. For example drain cleaner, bleach.
Check for termite damage. Especially if the Dresser is from the mainland.
Do a Lead Test on the paint if you can or ask the shop owner if they have done a Lead Paint Test on the Kitchen Dresser.
Check for the dresser being painted using Lead Paint or the paint work semi stripped back to give the Shabby Chic look. Glassware/Dinnerware/Food coming into daily contact with lead paint is not ideal.

This dresser is placed next to a wood burning Aga, the large shelf at the bottom of the dresser is for fire wood. The Kitchen Dresser was designed to match the Kitchen Island that I also made for the client.

Again, I love Antique Kitchen Dressers but quality ones are getting harder to find, and even harder if you have specific measurements in mind. I can make you a bespoke Kitchen Dresser, custom made to your design that is cost effective.
Until next time,
Michael
